I have a 2001 Ranger that's having some issues. First of all I have a leak from my front driveshaft. I believe that could be a pinion seal. Second, my four wheel drive is noisy. It rattles when engaged and taking off after a stop it acts like it's not fully engaged because it seems to pop in with a noisy clunk. Then, when I turn the switch back to 2 wheel drive, it doesn't want to disengage. What's going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello dngranger, I'm sure someone here will ring in soon these are great people. I just joined this site today, I have been reading posts for awhile, Anyway the leak at the diff front driveline. I just picked up a seal today to change mine out, looks pretty straight forward, mark the driveline and diff for shaft alignment, tape the u-joint cups after removal so they don't fall out, remove the yoke nut and yoke, remove seal and install new one carefully ( i bought two in case i screw it up) not sure what the torque specs are on the yoke nut? How is AK I'll be moving there in May 2011 hopefully, saving and getting everything ready. Oh' as for the 4x4 someone more knowledgeable will have to help. Also someone posted a great site for OEM parts I think it is silverstate ford parts.com. Well good luck! stay warm! Ray...
