01 XLS to XLT bumper

Hey all, I am a new member here and I had a question regarding bumpers. I have an 01 XLS with the usual rotting rear rusted bumper so I was going to purchase a chrome XLT rear and the grey front with the chrome inserts so that it matches. Is this swap possible?

I have a 2001 Explorer XLS 4x4 4door w/ grey front and rear bumpers.

the bumpers will bolt up, there is no difference in the mounting on the painted vs the chrome rear if they are both the '98+ rear, or '99+ front.

Yes, you can take the front and rear bumpers front any 98-01 (98s have rectangular fogs, 99-01s have the oval fogs) XLT, Eddie Bauer, or Limited and put them on. The only thing is if you have the fender trim, it might be hard to put that chrome side piece on.

The front bumper mounts on the '98 were different than the '99, no? The 98 has the 95-97 style bumper...

Well I have a 99 XLT bumper on my 98 and it fits fine. I have a friend who use to have an 01 Sport with a 96 bumper on it. It might have been a 98, but I'm fairly certain he said 96.

Ok thanks guys. I do NOT have any fender trim. I was just looking to replace the front bumper cover, and rear bumper. A local ford tech said that the front will not bolt up, but the back will.
