Hi gang. New to the forums here. Hoping to get some direction to where I can research a problem for my trans. It wont engage into Drive or Reverse. Its happened twice now in 2 days.
It would probably be a real big help if you told us what engine and transmission you had. It might also help if you told us how many miles were on the transmission, what the fluid level is, and the condition of the transmission fluid.

It just turned 80,000 miles, 4.0 V6 engine, Its only 2 wheel drive, the trans fluid was flushed and filled just last Summer and was at proper level and looked clean. At 33,000 miles the rear axe was replaced under warranty. No other problems to speak of... Knock on wood.
Didn't have a lot of time to diagnose it so its already at my independent mechanic getting the low down. I will post when I know. I'm sure its a common problem with an easy fix... I'm hoping so anyway.
My mechanic couldnt find any problems with the linkage. He seems to think that somehow I wasnt pushing down hard enough on the brake to get out of park into gear!
