I can't for the life of me depress the cap enough to expose the snap ring groove. I even loosened the band adjuster twice w/no results at all! ( On the adjuster screw I first loosened the lock nut and ran the screw in till it got tight. Then backed it out 3 turns with no results. Tried it twice) Please help! Larry

You will need to back off the adjustment bolt quite a few more turns.

You could try a deep throat pipe clamp if you have exhaust clearance.
Only the heat shield is removed. What's causing this from going in enough? Can I back out more on the band adjustment? Don't know how much is too much . Thx ! Larry

The cover only has to move a little so that you could remove the snap ring.
I'm really sorry but perhaps I didn't make it clear . I removed the old servo.
.The cap was slightly ****ed w/ the snap ring partly dislodged. I took the cover off and found a broken piston. Now I am trying to re-assemble everything and can't compress the cap enough to expose the ring groove and re-install the snap ring

When I replaced my intermediate servo with the upgraded unit I had to really push on that cover with one quick and strong motion. I used a heavy duty pry bar, with a scrap piece of wood against the cover. I wedged the prybar against the body and used one swift motion.

It was a struggle for sure. Good luck.

Are you using the upgraded servo with orings?

Solved - 5R55S servo cover popped off.

I had very little wear so I just went with a regular unit. BTW: I drew in the Intermediate band adj screw till it tightened up .Than I backed the screw out 4 turns and it didn't seem to make any difference when trying to compress the servo cap. I used a 15" pry bar on this thing. Maybe I need something a lot longer. Thanks for responding. Larry

You can’t tighten the adjuster with the servo cover off. Keep loosing the adjuster till you can compress the cover to install the snap ring. Once installed then adjust the band.
