2002 Ford Explorer xlt
Hello everyone its my first post on here.
I had just recently purchased a used 2002 ford Explorer XLT and have stumbled across some problems.

I have been dealing with certain electrical problems such as,
Door Ajar light, power seat won't move, power mirrors wont adjust, auto lights wont work, ac/dc outlets (cant member name of it) don't work, power locks wont work.

I read on here about the wires in the boot between the driver door and frame . I just repaired 2 wires in that area. A thin blue greenish wire, and a thin black wire.

After repairing this, My auto lights worked normal and my dome lights turn off now, my power locks work, and my power mirrors work now.

But after I was done repairing everything, I tried to use my driver window to roll it down and it wouldn't Function. All other three windows functioned fine.
The driver window worked before I repaired the wires.

Can anyone help thank you?!

Welcome to the forum! I remember repairing that same ground wire for the door ajar light long ago. I recently had a problem with a window on another car that wouldn't go up. After testing the motor and a lot of unplugging switches and continuity testing to figure out how they worked, I found one wire that was broken. Of course it was in the boot to the door and if I checked there first, I would have seen it right away. In your case it should be easier since its the drivers door. Just need to use a meter to check the ground or switch. It may just be another wire in that boot.

I searched to boot I see no other broken wires. Its very mind boggling because it worked before I fixed the wires.

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

I can send the troubleshooting steps from my shop manuals tomorrow night.

A copper wire can be broken without separating the outer insulation. If you cannot find any other problem (switch, motor etc.) try pulling on the wires from either end. A wiring diagram will tell you what wires to check. You can also massage the wires while someone is pressing on the window switch to see if intermittent operation occurs.

It doesn't make since though the damn window worked before I fixed the other two wires?
