I drive a 2002 explorer XLT 4.6 V8. I want it to growl, and i'm thinking of using a flowmaster 40 series in order to do that. Anyone try this, and are there any suggestions on whether or not to remove the catalytic converter. there are no restrictions where I live, so no problem there. Just looking for any suggestions or problems that I might run into.

I moved this post for you in the 2002 -2005 Explorer Section. It was in a clubs forum. This will probably help you out. I am also sure if you tryed searching through the forum, I bet you can find some helpful info.

Do you want it to growl, or do you want it to NOT run like total and complete ass?

i used a glasspack on my 4.0 and the way i would do it would be to leave ur cat but just undo the bolts that hold the pipe together to the pipe going to the muffler... if u want to use a turndown tip then to get rid of the piping going over ur rear drivetrain ur gunna probably need a dremel or a sawzall because the bolt on the clamp holding them together on mine was compltely rusted over and wouldnt spin worth ****... if u want to keep ur existing exhaust pipe i would bring it to a shop to weld

hope this helped

I have a 40 series flowmaster on my 4.6. I love the way mine sounds, you won't be dissapointed

I have purchased the flowmaster super 40, but I'm leary about installing it because of the cat sensors. has anyone done this yet and know if i'll have any problems. (minor or major)

the only cat sensor is the one midway thru it... the carbon sensor... i dont think u have anything to worry about... the airflow only increases after ur exhaust... it doesnt mess with the airflow and performance of ur engine

thanks for the reply. I think i'll go ahead,
