02 explorer rear diff fluid question

i want to thank everyone who helped with my last question now how do i know if my 02 xls needs that friction modifier stuff and where do you purchase it thank you for your time:us:

If you do a search you'll find many options.....
 






On your driver's door panel there should be a label with "axle code" which will tell you if you have a limited-slip differential or not. LS diffs require the friction modifier. Usually ~4-5 ounces in a tube wherever you buy the gear oil. A-Zone and advanceauto have it. It's very smelly stuff.

If you use the Amsoil they also make a friction modifier. They say their oil already has it but I also used the additional friction modifier which I got at Napa. Mine has been no problem. For my front differential I used the Amsoil but only the 75/90. Don't forget to do your transfer case too. Very easy to do with Mercon 5 2 qts is plenty.
 






Ford now had a specail fluid for transfer cases.
