'02 Explorer rear differential code

I have looked and looked but can't find any info.
the tag says:
S PM 502C
55 88 1C23

Mine is shot, so I found a rebuild kit that say it is for 31 spline. I haven't took it apart yet so I don't know.

Is this a 4-door '02 Explorer?

You have a 3.55 ratio 8.8 built Mar 23 '01 and I believe all Explorers were 31 Spline (subject to verification)
S=Sterling Assembly plant but my 2002 Parts manual reference doesn't have the PM502 which specifies the parts build.

Make sure the 8.8 rebuild kit is for a 31 spline IRS. It has some different seals and parts than the straight axle version.

What size it the axle nut? I was getting started but didn't have anything to fit it.

Great news...kinda

I began the process to drop the differential. I started on the drivers side by removing the axle, etc.
Moved over to the passenger side to do the same thing, but when I removed the brake rotor 3 large pieces of the E-Brake hardware fell out. There was 0 lining on either shoe. The wheel bearing was beyond bad. Almost done with the repairs now. So glad I don't have to rebuild the differential yet. I am replacing fluid though.
