- 02 explorer xlt
Hello to all!! I guess I'll start off by introducing myself. MY name is fornevets, and I'm a first time explorer owner. I'm not sure if the year I have is the best to own but it is an 02 explorer xlt v6 4.0. she's been great to me for the last two years. I bought her used with 136,000 miles. Put in a new battery. Had to replace the radiator and thermo. and a couple hoses so far, and that's all. Now two weeks ago I come out of the casino, and she wont start. It's not like it's turning over and over and over and not starting. When I turn the key it completely kills the electric then the theft light flashes for a few minutes, then, I think it resets. I try to start again and the same thing. Well I'm thinking I'm stuck in gear so I try to shift and break the damn shift lever connection I don't know what its called but it is like a plague with the 02 to the 04's. So I do some tests pull the starter and get it tested and the say its shorting out so I replace it also I get the steering column repair kit. So now I'm put back together Thinking it was the starter and it will just spin and get put it in gear. But NO it just engages and shuts the electric off. {By it I mean the starter of course}. Now the theft light is flashing non stop and is not resetting. That about sums it up with my problem, so if anyone has had this happen or knows what's up. Please respond. I thank you in advance for responding. Thanks for reading
