Is it possible to swap in some shocks from an 02 ex onto an 01 ex, I've researched the coilover mod, but I honestly don't have the money right now to do it but I really don't want to just throw in some stock 01 shocks. I was thinking the 02's because they have springs as well as the shock. Anybody try this? I've been searching the forums for the last couple hours and haven't found anything.

I'm not sure it would work without some significant modification of your upper shock tower and lower control arm. Might as well save up for the coilover conversion.

Thanks, I have to basically fab up a new upper mount anyways, I bought my ex used with a prerunner lift on the front and 33's and they cut out the upper shock mount to make way for the larger prerunner shock mount. I have since dropped down to 32's and now I am getting a lot of body roll when I have the ex loaded and if it is my shocks they are way too expensive to replace and I don't have another car to send them out to be rebuilt. I was looking to go back to a stock-like setup so I can clear my tires.

Pic of what I am running now....

oh ok I'm following now. well it should be fairly easy to get ahold of a 3rd gen strut assembly to design from. might not be too bad on the upper but not sure how the lower would fit up.

you would have to redo everything up front to run stock 02 (3rd gen) coil over struts. they have a strut mount.

Here's a pic to show what I'm talking about. they wont mount to your existing hoop mount. if you knew that already sorry. just figured I'd give an opinion

Now if you still have torsion bars you could take the Fox shocks off and install other cheaper after market shocks (that are for a 2 inch lift and add spacer to the shock mounting area to make u for the size of the fox shocks eyelet if needed) to your existing shock hoop and just back the torsion bar bolts down some to lower the vehicle. that is if your truck is still running torsion bars.
