2002 mountaineer
i have a 2002 mountaineer that wont go over 35 mph. ive read codes and gave me several cylinder misfire codes. ive replaced injectors, coils, plugs, and air cleaner, put new y-pipe with new catalytic converters and put new o2 sensors in it. i also put rebuilt transmission in it. it was running fine after replacing all those then noticed loud exhaust leak coming from under hood. the egr tube is basically gone. so i plugged it at manifold and egr valve. would that tube being blocked off cause it to not get up to speed? i have one ordered but it's backordered until april. the check engine light isn't coming on anymore. it starts and idles just fine. if i jus barely hit the gas it picks up ok and gets to about 35-40 but no higher. if i just floor it it dont want to pick up at all. thanks for any help

replaced fuel filter cleaned maf sensor and aic valve hoping that would help. still same thing. its almost like its hitting the rev limiter at like 2800-3000 rpm's. is there anything else i can try?

Is the engine RPM limited, or is it the road speed?

i think i found the problem. running it with the egr messed up i think clogged the new cats. when i started it and went to the tailpipe hardly anything was coming out. probably go with magnaflow high flow this time.

thats what it was. the front catalytic converter on drivers side kept glowing red hot. then it stopped and the back one started. think the guts in front one broke free and went through to back one and clogged it. i unhooked y-pipe and took spade bit to back one and know its running fine.
