I just did this job on my 2002 and also had a hell of a time removing the rear rotors. If you've gotten the rotor free from the hub, but it's still hung up, the only thing left is the parking brake shoes. There is probably a lip on the inside of the rotor that is hanging up on the shoes. You need to release the tension on the parking brake. To do this, you'll have to remove the hood release and the kick panel behind the parking brake pedal. Once you have this out, look at the side of the parking brake pedal and you'll see a hole. I believe it's kind of oblong. Kneeling beside the truck grab the parking brake cable with your right hand and pull it towards the rear. You should see the parking brake pedal move upwards. With your left hand insert a 5/32 drill bit into the hole in the pedal. When you've pulled out enough slack, the drill bit will go through the pedal and catch a hole on the body of the truck. This will hold the pedal in position, keeping the slack on the cable. Now, the parking brake shoes should be retracted enough to get the rotor off. If not, try hitting the rotor with a heavy rubber mallet or a dead blow hammer. You want to hit it so the rotor shifts front to back, hopefully squeezing the shoes closer together. If you still don't have enough room, you'll have to remove the knock out on the back of the brake backing plate to give you room to access the adjuster. Hopefully, you won't have to go this far because I hear it's a ***** to remove the knock out. Also, the adjuster is probably seized and will be a beast to unscrew. I actually had to remove mine and soak them in a cup of pb blaster for 20 minutes to unseize them. I then cleaned up the threads and greased them up so, hopefully, they won't be seized up next time. To reinstall, you're supposed to measure the inner diameter of the rotor and then adjust the shoes so they are .042 less. I didn't have the necessary tools to do this so I had to do a lot of turn out the adjuster, install the rotor, test for drag, and repeat until they started to drag. Then I backed them off about five clicks and installed the rotor. Parking brakes work fine now.
