I have an '02 XLT with a clicking sound coming from very near the rear blower motor. It appears to be related to the rear fan speed... the higher the fan setting the louder the clicking. I was certain is was the blower motor until I pulled the motor and the clicking noise didn't stop! Any ideas? What other moving parts are back there?

Thanks for the info!

I was just about to make a service appointment at the dealer, but maybe I'll try to tackle this myself over the weekend. Are there any tips on this site for removing the rear seat and panels to get at the heater box?

Thanks again.

I tried to remove this side panel that covers the heater box, but got stuck when I couldn't remove the bolt that anchors the seatbelt (the bolt has a star shaped head... I think these are called Torx bolts). I used an 1/2" breaker bar that was 18" long, but it didn't budge. If I had used any more force, I'm sure it would have snapped off.

Any suggestions on how to remove this bolt? Could this bolt have left-handed threads?

Thanks.

I've always used an impact gun with a torx bit to remove them. To install it back, I usually do it with a ratchet.

Other than that, I've snapped alot of those bits.

When I did mine I left the bolt attached and just worked around it. It made things a little trying at times but I was able to move it out of the way enough to get the job done.

Maybe try tying it off on the right rear passenger door to hold it out of the way. Good Luck
