First off, I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, and if so please let me know.
I hope someone can help me out with the issue I'm having. I'm hearing a ticking/clicking noise in the engine of my 2003 Explorer XLT DOHC that increases in speed when you increase the idle. This is the same in gear or in neutral and of course if driving the truck.
I've narrowed it down to cylinder one as I removed each plug wire and when I removed this one the clicking stopped.
I'm thinking that's its going to be a big job, but first wanted to see if anyone else had any tips that might help stop this issue before I have to spend my life savings to fix it.
