'02 xls 4wd. Stalled while driving

Engine stall while driving, no sounds, no engine turning when trying re-start. The odometer display was just dashes no numbers, TOWED home. Anyone with the same issue? Thought this the most convenient way to get a solution as someone with the SAME condition.

Sounds like an electrical issue. I would start with the battery and cables to ensure there is no corrosion, and that the battery is holding a charge. Autoparts stores can test batteries for free.

Battery is normal, chkd voltage when this happened. There was no sounds when tried starting. The odometer was displaying dashes no numbers. The next day I removed the neg. side of the battery and let it sit for 20min, once back on tried the key and it started quickly with the odometer reading again as if nothing happened the day before.

Been reading this is a common prob. with Explorers yet I am not seeing specific remedies for other's situation - frustrating.
