I have a 02 Explorer XLT V8 that I bought used w/ 28k. I noticed a whinning noise which I took to the dealer with still some warranty left. They gave me a copy of a TSB which identified this same problem and stated Ford Engineers were working on it. I took it another dealer and they said that Ford had put out a fix and they replaced the driveshaft. This did not fix the problem. The car now has 60k and is no longed under warranty. I have heard horror stories about people having had multiple rear ends and not fixing the problem. Any advice in what actions I can take and if Ford has come up with a solution. Also, not sure if the problem is related, there is a clunk in the transmission when shifting down. Anybody out there with some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Brett
