'02 XLT Gas Gage & Tranny

My '02 XLT Gas Gage doesn't work..anyone else have this problem?

02 XLT, 4WD, 92,000 miles

The gage will work when I start the car up, but after driving for 10 minutes or so, it goes down and the "Check Gage" Light comes on. Ford said I'd have to have the whole tank replaced.

Also, started having problems last week when I am in reverse. When I press on the gas to reverse, the car doesn't move. I have to slam on the gas and it makes this big clanking noise and then it kicks and finally moves. Is this the tranny starting to go?

I'm looking to sell this, and if my tranny is about to go- I want to get rid of it ASAP.

I don't know about your gas guage, but your tranny could probably use a solenoid body. You have enough miles for one to be wearing out. Takes about two hours to replace, and would cost you somewhere in th neighborhood of $300.00 to $350.00 to replace it yourself assuming you would change filter, fluid, etc.
