I filled my ex with gas today and the gas gage didnt move from 1/2 tank. Could this be a problem with the sending unit? Or could it be something else. any help would be great.
I took my 03 to the dealership with the same issue, and they told me to use Chevron (the techron resolves that issue unless it's mechanical/tech issue). I haven't had the issue since...
Snowball's gauge doesn't move until about 20 minutes later after a fill up if the truck is running when I fill up. If I have the truck off, it pegs right away after I start it.
And I had a starter issue, I don't normally fill up with the engine running...
I had nothing to do this weekend so I watched the TRUCKU marathon on Speed. they had a 97 explorer on there with the same issue and no fuel pressure. they replaced the sending unit and the fuel filter. they pointed out the thing on the sending unit that tells the guage where to be. the original sending unit ended up having a clogged filter and a hole in it so rust from the tank and all that fun stuff was clogging the pump. they also mentioned that its never a good idea to run till your below E. which makes sense. you should use your gas light as a warning to fill up right away so it doesnt go low in the tank and the pump starts sucking air and overheating the pump. it was in rough shape. i think it had 150,000 on her though. thought this would help and see if the episode is on youtube somewhere.
