'03 4x4 clunks only in auto mode

I have an '03 xlt with a clunking/jerking problem only while in 4x4 auto. Took the 4x4 fuses out, problem stopped. put 'em back in, problem came back.

Took to dealer, said rear tires were different circ. by 1 inch.
They put on new tires, did not fix it. :fire: They will have to keep it over the Fourth of July holiday. Been a week so far in the shop.

Out of curiousity, why did you have different tires on a one year old Explorer?

Bought the x used, acted up a couple of days later. All four tires had the same size stamped on them, different brand. That way when I bought it.
