I have an 03 Explorer 4.6 and when the trans shifts from first to second the truck will fall on its face. I have had it to the Ford dealer and they have told me that the timing is retarding when it shifts. It is supposed to do it for 3 milliseconds, but it is doing it for about 5 seconds. It creates a dangerous situation when pulling into traffic. The problem started after we replaced the torque converter, but we have replaced it and the transmission without any results. The dealer replaced the ecm and flashed it to the latest version. I have pulled the intake and checked the knock sensor, the traction control is not causing the problem either. Fuel pressure is great as well. Anyone have any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated. I am tearing my hair out on this one.
