2003 eddie bauer explorer
i have a 03 eddie bauer explorer that i recently purchased and after some research on this site i found that possibly the bypass switch on the dealer installed/factory remote starter is bad. whats happening is when i go to use the remote starter all the accessories turn on-lights inside go on-fuel pump engages and power seat moves but the truck doesnt start. i found that if i put the spare factory key in the ignition and try the remote start with the other key fob the truck starts right up. a few people mentioned that the bypass switch is the problem but didnt explain how to fix or repair it-where is this located and how can i fix the problem.....

thanks and any feedback is welcome.......

I had a aftermarket remote start came with a ring with wires attached that i installed around the key ignition part. then wires ran back to the box where alarm is that had my key in it. Some how sends signal to that area. remove trim around the key area and see if you have one. R&R, maybe wires loose on unit or bad.

funny thing u jus sent this to me-i went under the dash a short while ago to see if there was anything obvious that caught my attention-ie-loose or broken wire and found nothing-i took the cover off from the bottom of the steering unit and i did see a wire that somewhat looped around the ignition switch and went back under the dash and into what im assuming is the box for the remote starter-i just kinda moved it around and double checked all my connections in that area and sprayed some wd40 into the ignition key slot. well at that pont for some reason or another the trucks remote starter now works-i cant imagine what cud be the prob but maybe somehow me playing around with the looped wire and just double checking the connections maybe i did something that got it working again-i guess that looped wire does have something to do with the factory settings and allows the signal to have the truck start-hope it stays this way and keeps working......thanks for the input
