03 Explorer XLT Shift Lever

I just bought a 2003 Expo used with 29k miles. The shift lever when shifting up into PARK seems to "stick" and not go into the park position like it should. I'm having to fight it and am afraid I might break the lever or something.

Anyone know why this is?

Also, anyone know why the backup sensor turns to the off position when reverse is engaged?

Dealer today told me there is some kind of solenoid bad on the brake pedal and that's why the shifter isn't going into park like it should. They ordered one free of charge for me.

As for the back up sensors, one went bad but they need replaced in pairs. Again, they ordered replacements free of charge.

Free is always a good thing!

Let us know how that solenoid does and if it fixes the problem. Mine does that as well since I bought it in 06 and I'm used to it but it is still annoying.
