03 rear, drivers, cv joint

I am looking to replace my 03, limited explorer, 4.6L, drivers side rear cv joint. I am having a little hard time finding one. For one thing I see the option of ABS. I bought this used so I do not know if it has rear ABS or not. I would "assume" so but I do not know for sure. Can anyone help me out in finding out what I really need and a good place to purchase one? Thanks.

As far as I know, virtually every Explorer of that vintage has rear wheel ABS, but I fail to understand how it's presence, or lack thereof, would have any bearing on replacing C-V joints. imp

some of the Ex's did come with 4-channel ABS. Typically i htought it was the ones with RSC on the rear hatch. Otherwise it was 3 channel, 2 in front and one in the diff, CV joint wouldn't have a tone ring.

Easiest way to tell if its 4-channel and a CV joint with ABS is to look at the CV joint on the wheel side for a tone ring between the Hub and CV joint. Tone ring is a gear looking thing.

Thanks for the input. I have been reading about a new one-piece "seal" I guess that goes in the differential. If I am taking out the halfshaft is there a seal or bearing or something that should also be replaced on the differential side where the halfshaft enters as well? If so then I have to get it fast as I am doing everything in a couple of days. Again, any help is appreciated.. Thanks.

Sorry I cannot consult my Ford Shop Manual to help you, perhaps someone else can. Mine is now located 1500 miles away, and not accessible. imp
