04 2.3 Ranger crank but no start

I have a 04 2.3 ranger manuel. I have been having a starting problem lately. It will start and stumble out, then will just crank over. If I let it set for a bit its fine and will run for a few days. I replaced the igition module, battery, fuel shut off swith and relocated it, and fuel reley still happens. when this happens I dont here the relay and or a cylinder looking thing next to the intake mainifold does not click. I let it set and it fires up. Please help. what controls those items. how can i test the fuel pump? Maybe the coil but it fires up. headhunter619@gmail.com would be the easiest to respond. thanks
