Year, Model & Trim Level
you figure it out
ok so i have searched, and asked this question numerous times with no answer. Ford has NO clue what they are doing, so I will attempt to get an answer here again.
I have a 2004 ford explore limited v8, codes p0401, p0402 obd says check gas cap. I repalced gas cap. No one, including autozone thanks to mikes advice here, says i dont have a dpfe sensor on the truck. Ford wants to just start replacing sensors at random. The codes are conflicting, where do I start???please help this is frustrating. (Autozone also states they cannot get a egr from them either)

to the moderator of this bulshit site please cancel my account I have never seen multiple posts never get a response.

wow youre nice

With 10 minutes of searching, I ended up here;

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0401

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0402

Providing a better explanation of the codes (generic and applied broadly even if your specific vehicle may not have certain emissions sensors and such). No where did I see the recomendation to replace the gas cap.

Good luck.

As for replacement parts, there are several vendor partners listed in the vendor forum on this site you can order parts from.

Tousley
RockAuto
Fast Parts Network
PIFordparts
EricAuto
A1auto

-sigh- i wont bother to help this guy...

dud, guys are on holiday. . .might take a while seems a lot are out playing. . . .also summer shutdown in the auto world. . .

DPFE is not uncommon, also look for Vacuum leaks, another common thing is the Purge Canister get full of fuel and needs to be replaced.

We are a friendly bunch here and I don't believe that anyone has been refused help. The thing is we are not on here 24/7. When we are on here we cruise around and such. Just because we didn't answer your question right away doesn't mean we don't care. Everyone on this forum has been very nice to me, and I try to be very nice to everyone. I can tell you one thing, spouting off and using vulgarities is not going to endear you to a lot of people.

Having said that, here is the info you seek from my Haynes Manual:

On 2004 and 2005 engines, the solenoid, valve and differential pressure feedback (DPF) sensor are integrated into a single unit called the EGR module, which is bolted to the intake manifold behind the throttle body on V6 engines or to the left side of the throttle body adapter on V8 models.

Dude, you can do what you want, but this is a non-pay volunteer answer site (note you paid nothing to ask your question) and you flame on prematurely.

You may not realize it, but since your goodness can not been seen, only your responses, that you come off like a self-absorbed petulant whiner.
This is unfortunately backed up by the fact that the answer you seek can be found with some easy searches, so you also come off as demanding and spoiled.

Just chill out, be a member of the community, and both give help and ask for help - it is a cooperative site here. Don't make demands, do that where you pay money, make requests (or GTFO).

I have been here for over 8 years, and the guys on here have saved me a fortune, and I dare say I have also done the same for some as well, and never had a flame out with anyone here (why bother with being an internet tough guy - that's for cowards). This site does see maybe a dozen or so posts like yours each year, but the majority of them go away mad and never return that you can tell. Sad that they can't chill and be a good community member, and profit from the help.

Good luck with your Ex and fixing your problem.

agreed and thanks all for the help/ will not happen again.

Good deal and you are welcome. Hope you get it fixed!
