Hey guys,

Last night I went to a friends house and all was fine with my 04 explorer EB 4.0 with 102k. Parked, put up the windows and left it for 3 hours or so. Came back got in the truck took off and went to put down a window and none of them work. The lights on all the window buttons on all the doors do not light up, and none work. Obviously the first thing I checked was the fuse. It looked like it was fuse #6 (a 60 amp fuse under the hood, am i wrong?) which controls windows, audio and I forget the last thing, delayed something. The fuse is different than all the rest and I cannot tell if it is blown or not. But my audio still works fine along with everything else...In a couple hrs I am going to go out and find a new fuse and try that first, but i was wondering if this happened to anyone else or if anyone has any tips in what direction I can go because i need to put my windows down!!! Thank you!

Fuses are good, checked ground wire between boot and door, looks fine. Should I spend the 74.99 to buy a new power window switch?? Would the drivers side power window switch going bad cause ALL the switches not to work in the truck and the LEDS on all the switches on every door not to illuminate???

I had similar electrical issues with my 02 xlt. The dome lights would stay on until the battery saver feature turned them off, the accessory delay wasn't working, the driver side puddle light didn't work, the keypad on the door would set off the alarm when I pressed it, the door ajar light would flash and beep at highway speeds, the radio would shut off as soon as I turned the key off, the delayed accessories didn't work, etc. Most recently all 4 windows stopped working.

A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found 2 broken wires and repaired them. The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal. When the windows stopped working, I repaired the thick black ground wire and the windows now work like a champ.

Here is the thread for removing the door panel: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=303524

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Be sure to take your time when looking for broken/damaged wire(s). Check all the wires for breaks/damage. When you think you're done looking, look again, and again, and again. A bright flashlight can be very helpful.

If you are convinced that there are no broken/damaged wires, here is a great link for troubleshooting the power windows, thanks to theofam for this great link Dead Link Removed
I have this downloaded and can email it upon request.

Wiring diagrams are also available. Let me know.

Hope this helps out. :)

You got that right brother. I don't mind helping out. I figure it's a give-take relationship. :biggthump

After the 60 amp fuse is a 30 amp circuit breaker in the battery junction box. That is worth checking.

Next is the Accessory Delay Relay. It needs to be energized to allow the power windows to work and the lighting on the switches.

The Accessory Delay Relay is powered from fuse 17 on the central fuse box (under the dash). This is also where the Accessory Delay Relay is located.

All windows not working, on 04 sport trac

This helped a lot, i checked my fuse it was working so it didn't make sense that all switches were bad so i started troubleshooting the wiring and wire carrying the power to the master switch was broken (blue/black). Spliced and now works good as new, this is due opening and closing the door i think it must have taken a toll of the wire and it broke, i noticed some moisture got into the wiring at the copper was green at the tips of the broken wire. Check for all other wires if broken and replace as you do not want to get into the wiring in the boot, its a pain in the arse to work with if your fat like me lol. cheers. i bought the service and wiring manual online ebay so if anybody needs help email me . masihwilliam@hotmail.com i also have pics of the process. Thanks to the above thread

Glad I could help out. Nice job on the fix!! :D:thumbsup:

Hello all, thanks for this write up, will be usingthe note from here this weekend to fix my window issue.

I think it is a spliced wire as the lock buttons do light up but the windows don't.

I fixed my door Ajar issue which I thought would have corrected the windows but it did not and I was losing daylight, thus decided to put it off untill I have more time.
