'05 EB RWD V8
Hi everyone, new to the forum. I bought an 05 RWD V8 used about 1 year ago. Figured out today that the intake manifold is blown near the thermostat in the aluminum crossover area. Since I need to replace this, does anyone have any suggestions on just going with the stock version or if there is a better performance version that will work?

I was looking at the Mustang PI one available from Ford, would this require multiple mods, easy or hard? It seems hard to figure out if the 05 has the PI heads or not, I guess not.

Thanks for the help, any suggestions are appreciated.

Dorman makes an inexpensive replacement that has been reinforced in the trouble areas. The kit comes with just about everything you need to do the job. BTW, the stock explorer manifold was the mustang PI manifold.

Thanks for the information, that helps clear up the confusion for me.

Mine has the same crack/leak, the Dorman is the only new manifold I've seen and a resonable price at $175 on Rockauto. I don't even want to know how much one from Ford would be!

I haven't done the work yet and I may not anytime soon. My leak is just a slow drip that puddles up around the #1 cyl and then spills down on the front of the block. Has leaked at the same pace since it started last Fall, maybe a pint a month.

I have a good used Ford manifold I would let go if anyone is interested.
