Does anyone know hwo to do this - of course getting mixed results from the dealer - telling me it is not possible if I do not have the knob on the dash. I know there is a module as Canada has to allow these vehicles to have DRL's. Anyone know the module and or part number and what is involoved in installing?

Thanks -

Just going through that on an 02 Sport. The module is black rectangular or square mounted above the fog light on the inside of the frame left of the rad. there are two nut type heads holding it. In our case is a 6mm socket needed. You have to pull back on the plastic wheel shield to see up with a flashlight and there she be.

We just unplugged it for now and spent the afternoon going through a wrecking yard. All the X's and truck were older and had a different module. We could not find one in an Windstar. I figured Ford would not make install a different module for each vehicle type. Our headlamps just started flickering real quick but now its nearly like a strobe light. Fast enough to be annoying. We had no luck whatsoever at the wrecks most vechiles were much older. I may need to try another yard. OEM too expensive

Adding DRL?? Can't you just turn on your lights? It seems it would be much easier.

I read my comment and it appears to be sarcastic, it is not meant to be.

I just turn on the fogs when driving on the highway. Unless your hearing impaired like me, you shouldn't have much trouble forgetting to turn them off when the thing beeps when you shut the engine off and open the door. (I can hear it, just not that good:D)

I understand what most of you are saying but the module does a couple different things - first and foremost runs the headlamps only (not all your other lights) at reduced intensity - it is a great safety feature that you can tell when driving - people see you easier and quicker in the shadows (even on a sunny day) they don't pull out in front of you casually so for me it is a huge safety feature that I notice.

Would rather have the module as it does not turn on lights until the car is in gear - also do not have to worry about lights on or switches etc.

I got the module - is it in the same location on my 05? Is it plug and play - in other words does the dealer (with the ECU need to program to get it to work. Most cars are as easy as switching the country (my jeep for example could be switched to Canada ECU and it worked fine) no charge for that.

Yes, somone on here can provide you some links, let me search to find him.

Found him!- Just PM jhard about what service manual you need;)

normally on most fords there is just a relay that plugs in to the vehicle?

Is this not the same with the 02+ Explorer??

No at least not in Canada. The module is about $120 from the dealer. No way am I going to pay that. At a wrecker its < 20 but I could not find one. Nothing newer than 2000 in cars and not knowing where they are did not help. The trucks and X's were much older. I found a few but an different much bigger design. So no DRL at the moment.

I would like a manual for this. The OEM manual in the glove box has the fuses all wrong. Too many are the wrong value and also do not service what it says it does. I pull the fuse and the device still works. Dahhh its a Ford Owner Manual for g.. sake.
