wife has a 05 explorer..just got in a wreck yesterday..stupid chevy cavi pulled out in front of her while it was raining...she hit the brakes and slid right into him..her driver side front corner smashed into his back fender..i know pictures would help alot with what im about to ask but i havent had a chance to get any..but heres what i would like to know..how much force does it take to deploy the air bags? b/c hers never deployed. she was doin 50mph and slammed on the brakes...im not sure if the wheels locked up but i dont think they did..she has that traction control ****.

Sounds like all worked as I recall. The ADV-TRAC is to keep the car from rolling. Sounds like the antilock worked or she would have slid straight into it and not have turned enough to just catch a corner and the airbag may or may not deploy with a glancing blow from her trying to turn. It just depends on the G's when she hit. Pics would help but I am sure others would agree. Make sure you get a life time warrenty where it is repaired or from your insurance company. Unless there are changes on the new X's I dont know about but that is how I understand the systems work.

I hate that when it happens. I do not think the airbag would have deployed for that. Just glad everyone is ok.

50 mph (with deceleration before contact) and that's all the damage you have? That's exactly why my daughter drives a 05 Ex.

Same reason why my wife drives ours with our 5yr old daughter.
