Hello guys, love the forum, always can find some help on here, but I can't find my exact problem, so i registered with home for some help.

I have an 05 explorer, used for mobile DJing. Aftermarket speakers and radio were installed professionally last year by ENORMIS AUDIO here in Erie PA, one of the best in the state.

A few months ago, I started having electrical problems... The auto dimmer and auto headlights stopped working, but not completely. At dark, the lights would come on, but the inside spedometer lights would not... If I manually switched my lights on to correct this, my idle brake lights would not work...? Weird right? This lasted about a month, maybe 2... In the late fall of 2011

Now this problem seems to have fixed itself, but around that same time of being fixed, my radio completely is powerless now. I removed the aftermarket radio, and threw in my old stock radio, and the green lights all come on, but no clock, and the radio is powerless.

I will admit I am car retarded, but when taking my truck to the guys at ENORMIS they mentioned it might be wiring under the truck shorting? I was kinda blown off and felt stupid with a huge quote to look at it and a 2 month to look at it, which I would rather not do that, and they won't be getting further services by me and my company.

I was wondering if anyone had similar problems or fixes, or suggestions. Thanks :)

I'd say check your 2 main components of your electrical system. Your battery and alternator. A lot of weird things start to happen when either one of these slowly starts to go bad. I'd say also check all your grounds. Just a start if you haven't checked those already I wouldn't know what else to check?

Autozone just checked for me, all those are good.
