05 Sport Trac tranny whines in 1st gear

Notice a whine in first gear. It goes away once it shifts to second gear. Does anyone know what could be the issue and typical repair costs?

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

whats fluid look like? i remember from em mannys 1st gear whine couldve been syncros. or intermediate shaft end bearing. does it depend on heat? fwiw mine doesnt do it.

I didn’t pay attention to the fluid that came out, but it’s got all new fluid and filter in it now. I’ve only driven this one about 100 miles.

Yes. The fluid is spot on. I actually did a full flush, filter, new gasket, and even a new torque converter.
