Looking at buying a 05 XLT

Im assuming that the V6 is an interference engine... so with that said, it is locked.

Worst case scenario is it worth fixing if I buy it or go for a used engine?

Is the transmission in the V6's the same as the V8's? As it could be used for parts only for an 02.

the SOHC is an interference motor. There may be valve and or piston damage. As well as the timing chain cassettes. do a quick search on here and or look in the "sticky" sections and there are several tear down and rebuild threads on SOHC.

EDIT:
The 4.0L uses a 5r55s/w/e

Thanks for confirming man... Im going to make some calls tomorrow to see what a used engine goes for around here (the explorer is in Eastern Canada) and that will make up my mind in terms of if I'll buy it or not... or if I'll consider rebuilding or the speed of a new engine.

I had the timing chain break on mine, just the parts were around $800.00. I bought a used engine for $750.00 with only 67 thousand on it. just to give you an idea
