'05 XLT E-85 Burner
My '05 XLT standard eqt cd player won't play mp3's I burn myself, but will play audio cd's. MSN auto says for the '05 XLT: "MP3 capability and Sirius Satellite radio included with all audio systems." I don't care about Sirius, but want MP3 capability. I have the standard eqt. cheapest single CD player with the scan button at extreme upper right. I have tried adding an empty folder named "folder" along with the .mp3 files, as mentioned in another post. Still says "err". Any ideas? Will Ford replace this player under warranty? Anybody know who makes this player for Ford, model#, other forums that cover this?

maybe

i burned a few cd in the past and realized that i was burning them wrong. they played on my computer but not my cd player. i then realized i was not burning them in the right format and once i burned them as audio cd they worked. maybe you just need to look and see in what format you are too. as for satelite, you will still need to subscribe to it, not free even if you have the radio for it (mine is equipped for it as well).

Go to the Explorer Audio forum. Much discussion of this problem there.

Sometimes info changes, even in the dealer brochures. The '02 Ranger I used to have had the Mach audio system and would play MP3's. The radio in my '05 Sport Trac XLT looks the same, except for not having the Mach label, and does not play MP3's.
