I need to have my front brake pads replaced. I searched the Forum (a little) but could not find out what are the best ones to get. i.e. ceramic, semi-metalic, etc...
What do you all recommend?
Thanks
Steve

I usually go with the ceramic from NAPA. Are you replacing the rotors also?

Btw - How many miles did original pads last?

Thanks for the info. I am not doing this job myself (have been having back problems for quite some time now). I had a squeal a few months ago -- only the dealer could find it -- was rear brakes. They replaced the rear, and said the front pads are getting low. It is due for state inspection in March, so I thought I'd get the pads done now, then get it inspected. I do not plan on replacing the rotors. If they are not "true", I will opt to have them "turned" before replacing, depending upon price, of course.
The car has only 46k miles on it, but I did buy it used, so I don't know how hard the brakes were used for the first 36K miles.
I checked out tirerack.com (thank you). I will check with some repair places and see what they charge for the service including using ceramic pads, etc..
Thanks again.
Steve
