Thank you for having me on this site. I've owned 3 explorers in a row now and I've loved each of them.

Now to my issue, my wife clipped a column in a parking garage and I now need to replace the passenger side, rear fender trim (forward piece on the door) on my '06 Eddie Bauer. I have several questions:

1) I bought a replacement piece on the eBay for $40 instead of the dealer $160 piece. Will it work?
2) Can someone provide me a link with instructions for installing it?
3) My clips are damaged and no new ones come with the eBay purchase. How do I get new ones?
4) How can I match the color of the trim? It's gold metallic but no one at Ford will own up to a color code.
5) If I can match the paint, will the spray cans you buy with factory colors work well enough for me to paint it in my garage?

Thank you all in advance,

Colors.

Hi there, can't help with the fender trim, but maybe with colors.
I have an 06 Eddie Bauer and I made a hole in my rear bumper cover when I backed into a frozen pile of snow. There are 2 "beige" colors for eddie bauer trims in 06 Fords: Pueblo Gold Metalic, and Arizona Beige. You will probably need to buy both. I even checked with the dealer and based on my VIN they gave me the wrong color, so it's realy what they had at the assemply line at that moment that they used. Use primer, 5-6 coats of very light spray/mist, and then clear coat. It's not perfect, but people can't see it unless I point them to it.

Great advice, PL. Thanks! I'll buy both, it's still much cheaper than paying a body shop to do it. Where did you buy your paint?

I think I got them from

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/index.htm

but that was a while ago. There are number of them on the web. The primer and clear coat you can get even from Walmart if it's cheaper, check the prices first.
