Pushing the o/d button on the floor shift, nothing happens (been like this since it was purchased). Putting the instrument cluster into "test mode" shows the light does illuminate. No mention of fuse in the Owner's Guide. I'm thinking it's the switch wires or the actual switch.

I need help getting to the wires and switch , anyone have videos/pictures and advice on how to test the system?

Thanks for any help.

Anyone have/had this same issue? I've seen couple of videos on the column shift installed switch but none on the floor shifter.

I need to get at the wiring in the center console. Looking for advice on how to tear it down

I will post this thread link. While most posts are on the v8 with the 6r80 it should still apply to you.
2009 w/6R80 trans Overdrive switch does nothing.

When you do searches on here click advance search, search threads, and select the 2006–2010 stock forum. You can also select the modified fourm if you want. Try searching "new flex shifter installed" its in the stock 2006-2010 forum. It have some info that may help you.

Thank you Rcflyer330 for your help in trying to point me in the right direction.

Today I received the Workshop Manuals and hopefully this issue will get straightened out. I really don't need overdrive but I plan on selling my explorer (recently installed rebuilt transmission and last week installed a lower milage motor with all new timing chains) and I'd like everything to work.

I try to help as much as I can. Good luck with getting it fixed. If you do figure it out please post your fix so others can know.

Yea, hopefully it will get fixed.
Check to see if your o/d light is working... Here is a pict of my instrument cluster in Engineering Mode -> TellTale Test.

Instructions on how to access Engineering Mode :

If you haven't checked this link or seen the post there may be a possible solution or at least something to checkSOLVED; 2009 w/6R80 trans Overdrive switch does nothing.

Update ... o/d button started working last week, although intermittently. One day after starting engine and still in Park, pressing the button switch center firmly caused the o/d to turn off with dash indicator light up. Wow, after 2 years of ownership it finally worked. I pressed/pushed the button many times over 2 years so I'm not a novice. Sort of makes me an experienced Transmission Control Switch Deactivator per page 234 Owners Manual (2007)!

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Could still have loose/broken wires somewhere or switch wasn't used for several years and need deep cleaning. But I'm happy for now knowing that it does somewhat function. I'll probably never use it and like knowing about. So I plan on looking closer but it may take long time.

Thoughts Anyone?
