07 explorer middle row seating

Hey

Currently in my middle row I have a centre console instead of 3 passenger seating. I wanted to know if I get a used middle row with 3 passenger seating, will I be able to replace my current set up, so that it will be able to accomodate 7 passengers instead of the 6 passenger set up now?

Has anyone done this before?

i am pretty sure that the console and bucket seats are an upgrade. what kind of shape are they in?

I started looking into this when I was looking at an '06 at a dealer that had 6-passenger seating. Ended up finding a 7-passenger elsewhere.

But in my investigation, you can find seating at a salvage yard. From what I could see, it's not just the seats, but the mounting brackets. You may have to change those, too, since they looked to be slightly different to accomodate the console.

so I guess if I am able to find a the seats from the salvage yard and it comes with the mounting brackets, I would be able to use those exact mounting brackets on my current set up.

I would think so. The floor will certainly be drilled/tapped common, such that any chassis can take either configuration.

Whether you need different brackets or not is questionable, but at least be aware. Tilt/tumble the seats forward on your truck, and take some detailed pictures of the mounting brackets. Then, when you find another at a salvage yard, you can compare to your pics and decide if you need them.

You should probably ask the salvage guy if he would do an even trade. They probably charge more for buckets/console, so they might do it.
