Hey, I recently replaced the alternator in my wife's 07 ST and the belt aswell and now mainly in the mornings it squeels, not like a belt slipping squeel but more like chirping... Does anyone know what that could be?

Thanks for your help, weird thing is, it only started exactly the morning after I replaced the alt and belt... And it doesn't get progressively louder when driving... It goes away, which leads me to believe it's maybe the tensioner... But I dont know

I would recommend loosening everything up, and re-adjusting the belt tension. It's possible that the something is slightly misaligned and causing the noise. I would consider it an extreme coincidence that the problem just happened to occur just after you performed some repair; but that is always a possibility.

Just wondering where you are at with this.

Replaced my OEM leaky radiator this weekend. Figured now would be a good time to install a new Goodyear Gatorback belt and a new Gates tensioner since it had a slight chirping to it at idle speed. Test started the truck and everything was quiet as can be, chirp was completely gone. Put it all back together and now she squeels like a pig when the AC compressor kicks on. Normally I'd say loose belt, but this belt seems a little too tight. I'm not sure if the tensioner, the belt, or the mechanic (me) is to blame. Belt seems to be riding the groves 100%, my peabrain thought it maybe needed a few days & miles to 'stretch out'. No luck though.

Not a fan of belt dressing spray, also don't like redoing stuff, so...
