I decided that I wanted a full black interiior, instead of the two tone leather in my 07 Limited ST. Also didn’t like the reflection on the windshield from the gauge cluster bezel. I got my parts out of an 06 Mountaineer. Swapped door panels (needed to save the Explorer arm rests for the Explorer “branding “). Swapped seats, steering wheel, cluster bezel and HVAC vents.

I’m thinking about doing the same for the steering wheel and bezels on my 2010 Limited Sport Trac. My 2010 is already all black so no need for seats and door panels.

Did you need the clock spring or additional wiring from the donor Mountaineer or just the steering wheel?

Also, do the HVAC controls work? I’ve got the phone controls on mine.

It was just a straight swap, only the steering wheel. I retained the original airbag. I disconnected the battery about an hour before removing the airbag. Just note that my original steering wheel had the HVAC controls in it, not phone controls. So yes, the HVAC controls on the Mountaineer steering wheel function properly when installed in my ST. But it was a swap of steering wheels that were the same, other than appearance. Just carefully disconnected the wiring and ensured the clock spring stayed in place.

That’s great info. Thanks!

do you have the cluster bezzle? il buy it off you. mines destroyed n peeling.

Hey, how does that bezel trim come off? Mine looks like it is heat staked to the black dash panel??

I only needed the steering wheel from the Mountaineer, nothing else. The Mountaineer had all the same steering wheel controls as my ST. All steering wheel controls (including HVAC) were plug and play and work perfectly.
