08 ST in my future?

OK, so the wife starts dropping hints like she would rather have an SUV instead of her Lincoln. I started looking at 08 Sport-Trac's and on the sticker but I really do like how they look.

How do you guys that have the new 3valve v8 like them? How's the power? Is it geared well? Any quirks like premium fuel required?

Also, is there a tranny dipstick? It irritates me to no end that I can't change/check my own tranny fluid on my LS since there is no Dipstick.

Do you still have the throttle lag that I have read about in the third gens thanks to the drive by wire?

I have a V8 and very pleased... as to fuel, just normal reg unleaded.. throttle lag... i used to have it but since the PCM flash and such it's gone (BTW mine's an 06)

The tranny is "sealed" but there's actually a tiny dipstick that you can only get to from under the truck.

Have had my 08 ST Limited 2wd V8 about 3 months. I like it a lot. The motor could use more power for me, but I'm a power hog. My driving is 80% highway and I average 19 mpg or so. Overall, Im very pleased. The local dealer cut me a sweet deal, that made it a little better.

Thanks guys, I know the latest models are few and far between here on EF so I appreciate all the input I can get. I'll probably wait until the end of the 08 model year to snag a deal.

Is the suspension set up the same as a third gen so that a coil spring lift can be done?
