15 or 16s ?

I want to put stock 16s to replace my stock 15s. Because I like the way larger looks. My time is spent about 15% off road and the rest on. I want good road performance and also moderate off road use. Need a tire that can handle a pinch but no too aggresive I guess.

Does anyone have any opinions (pro or con) about the larger wheels, besides less choice in tires.

I want to stay with in the specs i.e 15- 235/75 16- 255/70
Because this will give me less hassles with speedo and other stuff, right? So to get a larger tire I would need to put the 16s on.

I'm looking at Michelin LTX M/S, Goodyear Wrangler AT/S,
BFG AT/KO. All in 16s. Will these perform off road just the same as 15s would, really for the amount of off roading that I plan to do?

Before I sink a grand + into this I would like to get some opinions, is it really necessary?

Thanks, Jeff

A taller tire is taller no matter what size of rim. I'm putting 30/9.5x15's on mine soon unless I go up to 31's. Several guys here run 31's on stock Ex's with out rubbing.
Go to bfg's website and compare a 255/70-16 to 30 0r 31x15's.

I just put 30x9.5x15's on and to tell you the truth I don't like the way they look width wise. They almost look a little smaller than stock, I think they are. Didn't have enough time to really look into the 31's. I know almost all tire stores will tell you your pushing it. But your right it looks like a lot of guys are doing it successfully. My main concern though is messing up the speedo with 31's. let me know how it works out if you go 31.
