I have a Bronco II that I have installed a 1993 5.0 V8 in. I kept all the emission devices, and the truck has passed CA smog test a number of times since the conversion. I do have heat issues with he truck, no overheating, just higher than I like underhood temperatures. I have always had a 180 degree thermostat installed (stock calls for 192), but recently replaced it with a 160. I like the cooler temps it allows, but I have noticed some pinging in the motor under heavy loads, if the temp is low. Does anyone know if the engine being below temp could cause the motor to ping? What other issues could running with the lower thermostat cause?
Thanks
