So I've been searching around for months, paid a few people for help, no luck.
The EEC fuse on my 89 Ranger keeps blowing, and I'm at my wits end trying to get it back up and running. I'd hate to sell my truck, but I need a driver soon.
What I've done already:
Replaced the fuel pump
Replaced the fuel pump relay
Replaced the EEC fuse relay
replaced the EEC fuse (many times)
took out the complete wiring harness and (somewhat) checked it for shorts

No matter what I do, that fuse still blows, even if the computer is not connected.
Here's what happens:
Put new fuse in
Turn key to "On" position
Fuse is OK
Crank the started
Fuse blows
Just sort of out of ideas, Ive searched the forums here and on other sites, and have had no luck, any help would be very appreciated!

...Just a thought but check both of your starter wires to see if they have nicks, grounding out, or touching the exhaust manifold, oil pan, or frame...

This is one of those painstaking gremlins that the only thing you can do is pour through the harness. Electrical problems can be a real ***** to troublshoot and locate. In my experience the electrical problems are usually end-user caused. Think back to any mod you may have done or a fender bender that may have pinched a wire.

Ground to the body can sometime rust out as well.

I had my Ex's entire interior out - seats, carpet panels before I found my short
(and it was end-user caused- the AM alarm connectors were corroded)

I pulled the entire engine and computer harness out, some of the grounds are a little corroded, guess thats what I get for driving down the beach, but Im paying someone to check out the cable, hopefully he can find the issue and take care of it.

Any ideas why the auto tranny (A4LD) keeps blowing 2nd?
