1991 hood latch Please Help

Hi could anyone tell me what i can do if my hood release on the inside of my 1991 ford ranger truck won't work the hood looks like it no shut all the way and the inside and the outside release does not seem to be working.Please any info would be much appreciated. Happy Hoiidays to all

If you can see the latching mechanism that's connected to the radiator support, you might be able to get a ratchet with an extension through there and unbolt the hood latch. If you do that, you should be able to get the hood up, and then fix the release mechanisms to work correctly.

I know on my Explorer, everything was loose and wasn't working correctly, but that's what I did to get it working right again.
 






Have someone press down on the hood while you pull the latch lever on the inside. This may relieve tension on the mechanism and allow it to pop open.
 






Sometimes the latch gets stuck into a partially closed position after the hood is up, so you just push the latch back open until it clicks, then the hood will close.
 






You can open the latch by actuating the manual release with a screwdriver.
