94 hood latch

I opened my hood this morning with no problem to replace the battery. When I finished and tried to close the hood it would not latch. I tried many times but no amount of force will close it. Any ideas?

mine has done this numerous times as of recent, with the hood up pull the release again and then spray it down with some deep creep or any kind of non water based lubricant then bring the hood down to like 5 inches above close and drop. Good luck hope this helps, Jon

Sometimes it helps if you go back in the cab & pull the hood release again, then try & shut the hood. Works for me & I have yet to find the problem. I tried greasing the latch & all & it still happens. Think the cable may be going bad....
