I'm stuck. I can figure out most things, most of the time but not this one.

The problem: Front window washer doesn't work. I am not getting power to the washer pump. The back washer works fine.

Things I've tried, inspected, tested:

Read every article in this forum I could find pertaining to washer troubles.

Took the pump out and tested it. Works ok.

Took the mfs out and inspected. Looks good. Nothing much can go wrong
in there. It is a very simple switch. (copper contacts that connect
directly to the wiring in the steering column)

Tested the Push button on the stick. Works ok. All other aspects of the
switch work ok. (wipers, turn signals, hazard flashers)

Looked for a relay but couldn't find one anywhere. Any ideas?

Tested the 6-amp Circuit Breaker for the washer. Works ok.

Here is a link to some images I took of the switch and power distribution box under the hood for anyone who can recognize this system.

key ON engine OFF, do you get power coming out of the MFS on the PU/LG wire?? if not, check for power at the R wire on the MFS.

PU/LG wire does not get power. The R wire does. I tested at the wire harness first (see image).

With the harness connected to the switch I do not get power to the PU/LG wire unless I push the washer button in. Then it gets power and the wipers come on briefly but still no power to the washer motor.

ok, do an Ohms check between the harness PU/LG wire and the Washer motor connector. should have about 0.0 Ohms. if not, check for open in wire. if about 0.0 Ohms then check for ground at washer motor connector.

Yahoo! You found the problem.

Zero ohms at the power wire (PU/LG). That only left a ground issue. Turns out it wasn't grounding inside the washer motor plug.

If I wiggle the plug while pushing the washer button it will work as long as the plug is in the right position and is grounding properly.

Now all I have to do is replace/repair the washer motor plug.

Thank You

glad you found it
