The cruise control in my 1992 stopped working about six months ago. My CD player still works, so it isn't the fuse. Also, I have checked all of the small plastic vacuum lines that I can find and have yet to find a broken one. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

If you want to check the on / off switch in the steering wheel there is an easy way to do this. Try holding down the ON button then push the OFF button. If the horn sounds softly then you have power to that switch. I know this sounds dumb but when I purchased my 91 sport some idiot had put glue on the ON button when it fell out, pushed it back in and glued it down. This did not allow the button to come back up and the cruise did not work. When the OFF button was pressed the horn beeped.
Also check to see if a wire has come loose or frayed on the clutch or brake switch. This will also keep the cruise from coming on. later

Does your horn still work? When I pulled the fuse under the dash marked 'horn' it also disconnected my cruise control, so somehow those two are linked together.

I'm pretty sure my 94 Ranger is the same as your 92. But on my Ranger my cruise went out and it ended up being the cruise control amp. Its located in the dash above the glove box(like right under the shelf but inside the dash). I'd check that out, I've heard of them to go out on other people before.

Hope this helps!

JR and TODD,
Thanks for the suggestions, but they didn't work. 4x4Ranger, I'll try that next. Thanks for all of the help. Any more possibilities would be a great help.

When the cruise control in my 93XLT did not turn on, the troulbe was the amp. It is in a green box above the glove box----, but if you go in there be carefull, for if you mess up any electronic part you be buying a new amp for 200.00 or so. What I did was resolder all points on the circuit broad and then it worked just fine. DO THIS AT AN ELECTRONIC WORK STATION AND DO NOT PUT ANY STATIC ELECTRICITY ACROSS THAT IC ON THE CARD. If you really know how to solder thats good,--- if not, FIND SOMEBODY TO HELP YOU.
