Many congrats to BrooklynBay for his help over the years and his fondness of Aerostars, this site has been my invaluable in keeping my star running. My question isnt about running, but sitting. The bucket seats are falling apart and I dont want to recover them(but will if I have to). Prefering instead to find a direct bolt-in from a more modern vehicle. Is there any candidates for this? And if not who sells a decent(besides Ford) new covers(not slip-ons). Thanks in advance...

Have you looked at seats in any junkyards? Some yards have an online database of what they have in stock. They don't save the interiors so you'll have to act fast if you want to get them before they send the whole thing to a crusher. A lot of Ford vehicles have the same bolt pattern for the seats so you might be able to interchange seats from another vehicle. It's possible to measure the spacing between the bolts to compare with another vehicle. Some aftermarket companies make seats but they will be very expensive. Take a look at some of the plush captain's chairs that they make for custom vans. WWW.Recaro.Com sells sports seats that are not as plush. Don't faint when you check the price on them.

I've been checking junkyards and craigslist for parted out Aerostars, but no luck yet. Measuring bolt patterns is no problem, but was hoping that a chart might exist to save my brain cells. I've been wanting Recaro's since the early 70's(they werent cheap back then either). I'll focus on some used captains chairs or seats out of a late model p/up. Thanks for the quick reply....
