1993 ford explorer 4x4
I am working on a 1993 Ford Explorer 4x4 with 4.0L EFI. It won't run. The starter spins ok, the fuel pump runs in key on mode, the engine is free. When turning the key to " start " the engine will start and attempt to run for about half a second then die off. There is no smoke or visible sign of trouble. I attempted to read the obd-1 codes with a voltmeter and all I got was one short pulse and two sets of three pulses each. That seems to me to be 133 which I cannot find listed in the manual. Of course who knows how long that code may have been in there. I did not clear the codes before reading them. At first I thought clogged fuel filter maybe. Then I started thinking ignition problem ( icm ) then maybe timing belt or chain? Now I'm not sure which way to go. Does anyone have an idea I can run with? I would appreciate any help on this problem.

Is it possible that your "133" codes were really 1 111 1 111 (which means pass from both KOEO and CM)?

1st thing I'd probably do in your situation is put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if the fuel system is generating enough pressure (~40 psi).

MrShorty, First of all let me thank you for your response to my post. This FE is my daughters car. I can no longer drive due to eye problems.
I bought a new filter at AZ but they didn't have the metal removal tool there. Bought one at Advance Auto ( poor 8 buck investment ). To make a long story short I could not get the fuel filter out even with the tool.
My advice to my daughter was to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic who can properly repair it. What will happen now is still undecided. Again, thank you for your response and sorry for the late reply. lejake85
