I am stumped by an apparent ignition problem on my '94 Explorer XLT. There is power to the cigarette lighter and overhead lights but not the radio or instrument panel. Until I turn the ingnition - then there is no power at all. I changed out the ignition 2 weeks ago and everything seemed fine, but now the same problem is back. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I never took apart an explorer ignition... lots of others though. Did you just change the lock cylender part or the electronic piece that it slides into? Some times on maximas and accords the contact switch oppisite the ignition wears out.

Or maybe your battery is dead....

Bad Battery

Turned out the battery was defective. I got a replacement at Sears and seems to be well now.
